I had always grown up in the church.  All of my life I attended the First Church of Christ in Bluffton.  I have many memories there. But in late January of 2006, me and my family began to attend the 1st Church of the Nazarene.  I would soon learn that my most important memory would happen there.

I had just turned 14, and I didn't expect the message by Pastor Larry on September 24, to change my life forever. But it did!   Pastor Larry told the people of the church before the service began that we would be taking communion at the end of his sermon.  When Pastor came to the end of his message, I heard God telling me, "Hey Robert, Listen up!  You're now 14, and it's time for you to step forward."  When Pastor Larry spoke about the details of communion and what communion  represents I knew something was happening.  He said that as we take communion we are suposed to remember God.  It was during this message that I told myself, it's time.  So, when my pew was dismissed to go to the altar to take communion, I went forward.  Because my mom noticed that I had gone forward, on the way home from church, I told her what had happened.  Later that week, we contacted Pastor Larry and made arrangements for him and my Dad to meet me for lunch at school. We met and talked about what had happend to me.  And, as many of you know, the next Sunday I was baptized.

I believe that many people know that God is calling but they don't know how to listen. My advise to them is to pay attention.  You never know if your call from Him will come when the preacher is preaching, or when you meet someone special, or from a story about someone else getting saved.  But it will happen if you are listening!  I didn't know that I would be 13 years old when I got saved.  Some people get saved when they are very young, and for some it is when they are 30 or 40.  Everyone is dfferent.  But believe me, when you are saved, it's a whole different ball game.

Sometimes I still picture myself coming out the of the water, as I remember my baptism.  On that day, I remember hearing the clapping and cheering from my family and friends.  It was such a great feeling to be baptized!  Although being baptized was a wonderful experience for me, one that I will never forget, it is nothing compared to the feeling of having Christ in my heart.
